Victoria Wong
UX/UI Designer
Once upon a time, there lived a girl who was idealistic and ambitious. One day, she fell in love with putting together the words and images that made for effective communication. She was told that there existed a profession for someone who enjoyed such work called graphic design. Pursuing this field of study, she dreamed of one day producing such awesome graphic design work that there would be a lineup out the door, demanding her talents. The formative years in her career happened to fall into the mesmerizing, historic period of the Great Smartphone Evolution! Soon, she realized that simply putting together words and images was not enough; designing for web and mobile user experiences has become the next great pilgrimage! So, she embarked on a journey to take on roles where she can make the most impact with her skillset—startup projects. Navigating the waters of product design in a startup environment, where so much trust was placed in her inexperienced hands, was both terrifying and exhilarating. Her labour of love paid off when, finally, her work was recognized by her peers in the Vancouver UX Awards! Though still far from having a lineup out the door, today, she finds herself marching happily among the great minds at 1QBit, eager to fill her chalice of knowledge, and gets drunk daily on new-found wisdom. No longer idealistic, but entirely pragmatic, she continues on in her endeavour to immortalize her name in the unsung heroes’ history books. She hopes that one day the name Victoria Wong will evoke an involuntary fondness in the minds of those who have known her.
