Emran completed his BS and MS degrees in electrical and electronic engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. In his masters program, he worked with shockable arrhythmias detection from ECG signal, ring artifact correction in CT images and breast cancer detection using ultrasound-elastography technique. After his masters, he started his PhD at the University of British Columbia, Canada in 2012. In his PhD, he worked with enabling ultrasound guidance in scaphoid fracture fixation and prostate segmentation in ultrasound images using deep neural networks. After completing his PhD, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Johns Hopkins University, USA, where he explored the possibilities of deep learning in photo-acoustic, thermal, and ultrasound tomography imaging. After 1 year of his postdoctoral training, he joined 1QBit as a machine learning researcher to bring his expertise in medical image processing to their healthcare projects. His personal interests include playing table tennis and bowling; reading detective novels; watching suspense and thriller movies; driving boats and catching fish.
