Maritza Hernandez is a Lead Scientist in the Quantum-Inspired Optimization Division and has over 10 years of industry and academic research experience in quantum computing. She specializes in delivering solutions to various industry partners by leveraging novel quantum computing and quantum-inspired technologies.
Throughout her career, Maritza has conducted research on various industry applications, including molecular similarity, conformational search, and molecular docking. She has studied the performance of quantum hardware, including D-Wave Systems’ quantum annealer and Microsoft and Fujitsu’s respective quantum-inspired devices. Maritza obtained her Ph.D. in quantum optics from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
Before joining 1QBit, Maritza held a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of British Columbia in the Department of Physics and Astronomy. In her free time, Maritza enjoys photography and hiking in the local Vancouver mountains.
