Quantum Algorithm Scientist

Your Role

1QBit is looking for an expert in quantum algorithms and related disciplines to work on theoretical and experimental aspects of fault-tolerant quantum computing (FTQC). Our Research and Development team wants to hear from high-calibre scientists who are excited to contribute to the development of technologies that will enable scalable and applicable quantum computing.

This position offers remote working within Canada. Salary starting at $101K.

What You’ll Do

  • Work alongside peers with unique and creative backgrounds in physics, computer science, mathematics and engineering
  • Constantly learn through your work as well as actively engage with the academic community
  • Present to, and learn from, collaborators
  • Design and analyze quantum and classical algorithms
  • Design and implement numerical and lab experiments
  • Perform simulations and benchmarking
  • Take part in generating reports, drafting patents, authoring publications, and attending conferences

    • PhD in computer science, physics, or mathematics (or equivalent training)
    • PhD in computer science, physics, or mathematics (or equivalent training)
    • Strong background in quantum algorithms (e.g., phase estimation, amplitude amplification, Grover’s search, Shor’s algorithm, advanced Hamiltonian simulation techniques, advanced methods for electronic structure quantum simulations based on qubitization, etc.)
    • Working knowledge of quantum information theory and quantum information processing
    • Understanding of computational complexity
    • Experience with quantum circuit synthesis, circuit optimization and circuit compilation
    • Research experience in the design, optimization and resource analysis of quantum algorithms
    • Solid knowledge in the fields of quantum error correction and fault-tolerant quantum computing (including familiarity with topological codes, lattice surgery, magic state distillation, etc.)
    • A strong track record in quantum computing research, demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications and top-tier conference presentations• Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, C/C++)
    • Ability to work well with others towards a common goal
    • Research independence: the ability to take responsibility and initiative to conduct your research as it is required in working towards the common goal
